Vegan Thanksgiving

Vegan Thanksgiving

It's almost time for Thanksgiving! Family, football, fall, and fun. But what about the food?

It's hard not to think food on this food-centered holiday. And let's face it, the omnivores certainly have some strong traditions. First thing many people think when they hear Thanksgiving is turkey. But leave those wonderful fowl alone.

So how can vegans enjoy the holiday? We're here with some of our favorite recipes and tips.

MAIN: We like to buy our main course. There's tons of great main recipes out there, but these are simple to heat and super tasty. After trying many many main roasts, our two favorites are the FIELD ROAST CELEBRATION LOAF with Hazelnut and Cranberry. and the TRADER JOES TURKEYLESS STUFFED ROAST. Both "roasts" are seitan-based and come frozen. They heat in the oven and are delicious and easy. The savory loafs are simple but will be a welcome main for your vegan Thanksgiving.

TRADITIONAL SIDES: A lot of sides are already vegan-friendly. Making green beans, mashed potatoes, or sweet potatoes? They're all vegan, as long as you use earth balance or other butter substitutes and plant-based milk. If you enjoy marshmallows on yams, be sure to pick up a pack of vegan marshmallows. Here's a Delish recipe for Vegan Green Bean Casserole, and another for simple Vegan Mashed Potatoes and of course a Mushroom Gravy

STUFFING: Stuffing is my favorite at the holidays. There's many options for a great vegan stuffing, but we really like this cornbread stuffing from NoraCooks: Vegan Cornbread Stuffing.

CRANBERRY SAUCE: Many cranberry sauces are already vegan. Be sure to check the ingredients is using prepared sauce. Or check out this sweet spiced cranberry sauce recipe

KICK IT UP A NOTCH: Want to truly impress? Vegan food isn't limited to copying the traditional omnivore-centered options. What about a Wild Rice with Cranberry Pilaf or this Pumpkin Hummus or this Tempeh Stuffed Acorn Squash.

DESSERT: Okay, let's face it, this is what you're really here for. The vegan desserts. Some of our personal favorites, including Vegan Pumpkin Cheesecake can be found on our Pumpkin Spice Time blog. In addition, be sure to try this Vegan Pumpkin Pie and this Vegan Apple Pie.

We hope your Vegan Thanksgiving is amazing this year...and keep a sharp eye out. The Vegan Black Friday deals for the shop start early and are going to be spectacular.
