A New Years Gift to YOU
It's been a while since we posted. Life has been hectic, but we wanted to share something exciting for the new year!
For a long time, we've experimented with the perfect homemade vegan PROTEIN bread. While many recipes for vegan bread exist, there's a shortage of protein heavy breads out there. Let's start Veganuary the healthy way, with this perfect crusty bread that's easy to make, healthy and delicious!
Ingredients:
405g whole wheat flour
80g pea protein powder (unflavored)
2.5 tsp live active yeast
1.5 tsp salt
650 ml warm water
Steps:
Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add warm water and stir well to ensure all are mixed, make sure all ingredients are blended.
Cover with a towel and leave to rise for at least two hours (up to overnight).
Turn out on a lightly floured surface. No kneading necessary, but shape into a loaf and cover with more flour. Let rise an additional 45 minutes.
While second rise is happening, preheat oven to 235C (450F) and place a pan of water in oven to create steam. Add a few slits to top of loaf.
Bake the bread for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and hard to touch. Allow to cool in oven with door ajar for crispier crust.
Each 100g of bread (about two slices) provides 185 calories and 13.2g protein - now that's one protein-heavy, delicious loaf!
